Maren Morris praised Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, and Megan Moroney on SiriusXM, calling the current rise of women in country a major shift after years of limited chart and radio support.

Maren Morris is praising the current run of women at the top of country music, naming Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, and Megan Moroney as artists she is watching closely.
In an interview with Mack and Jen on SiriusXM Hits 1, Morris said, “I’m so excited that they’re all crushing it.” She added that for years it was “pretty sparse” to see women leading charts, winning major awards, and getting paid fairly, and called the current shift a meaningful change.
Morris also pointed to the writing community around those releases. “I’m friends with a lot of them and I’m super proud that they’re on these big projects,” she said. “The songwriting is just getting so good and that always makes me excited to continue writing.” She added, “It’s just nice to know right now that there’s so much quality music happening. I love that country is having a moment — it’s always to me been a global genre.”
The timing matches a strong period for women in the format. Wilson won four CMA Awards in 2023 and has grown into one of country’s biggest live acts. Moroney’s debut project Tennessee Orange reached the top five of the Billboard 200. Langley recently earned her first No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart with “You Look Like You Love Me,” featuring Riley Green.
Morris has long spoken publicly about pay gaps and the lack of support for women on country radio. Her 2019 single “The Bones” spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on Country Airplay, setting a record at the time for a female solo artist. Her album Girl won Best Country Album at the 2020 Grammys, and her 2016 debut Hero produced the hit “My Church” and helped earn her a Best New Artist nomination.
Morris released her most recent studio album, Intermission, in 2023. The full Mack and Jen interview airs on SiriusXM Hits 1 (channel 2) weekdays at noon ET.
