Sabrina Carpenter wore a custom Dior dress by Jonathan Anderson at the 2026 Met Gala, made from film reels featuring stills from the 1954 movie Sabrina. The singer also reflected on Coachella and her risk-taking style era.

Sabrina Carpenter arrived at the 2026 Met Gala on May 4 in New York wearing a custom Dior look designed by Jonathan Anderson, built from camera film reels featuring stills from the 1954 film Sabrina.

On the red carpet, Carpenter told Vogue host La La Anthony, “It’s all made of film, which is my dream,” before praising Anderson as “the genius that he is.” She said the dress came together right after her recent Coachella run, adding that Anderson and the Dior team created her festival wardrobe and then “hopped right into making this dream dress.”

Carpenter called Sabrina “one of [her] favorite films of all time,” explaining the reference behind the material choice.

Asked about headlining Coachella, Carpenter said, “I don’t know, I blacked out a bit. And then I did it, and then I was driving in the car. And then that was it.” She described the set as “electric” and said, “I will remember it forever.”

She also spoke about her style direction in this phase of her career: “At this point, I’m like, ‘the crazier the better.’ The more risks you take, the better the payoff.”

Carpenter said she was most excited to see friends attending the Gala, along with this year’s performances and the Costume Art exhibition. This year, she is also serving on the Met Gala host committee, alongside Doja Cat, LISA, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, and others.
