ashnymph Shares New Single “47” Following Debut EP Childhood

ashnymph, the London-via-East Yorkshire producer Will Wiffen, has released single “47” shortly after his debut EP Childhood, out now on Blitzcat Records.

London-via-East Yorkshire producer ashnymph, born Will Wiffen, has released 47 days after dropping his debut EP Childhood.

Recorded in Wiffen’s bedroom studio in southeast London, Childhood leans into a handmade, experimental approach. Across 47, that shows up in sonar-like beeps, flickering guitar lines, gamelan samples, and pitched vocals that loop like a chant.

The new single arrives with clear stylistic overlap to artists often cited around the project, including Moin, Battles, Soulwax, and MGMT, while keeping Wiffen’s looser, collage-like production style at the center.

Wiffen described the track’s theme directly, saying it is “about kids drinking and getting far out,” and called it “a combination, I guess, of pondering the state of alcoholism and the lack of spirituality in the western world.” He added that the song came from “a phase of getting into it with the experimentation,” which is reflected in the gamelan samples that remained in the final mix.

Childhood is out now via Blitzcat Records.
