Greta Van Fleet sparked breakup speculation after posting a career montage ending with “Thanks for the wild ride.” The band has not clarified the message, and fans are split between farewell concerns and new-music theories.

Greta Van Fleet fans are questioning the band’s future after a new social media post ended with the message: “Thanks for the wild ride. Love, Josh, Jake, Sam and Daniel.”
The Michigan rock group shared the clip on May 4. It is a montage of music videos and live footage spanning their career. The post includes no caption explaining what the sign-off means.
The upload is the band’s first post since July 2024, when they marked the second anniversary of Starcatcher. Their most recent run of shows, tied to that album cycle, wrapped in summer 2024.
Fan reactions quickly split between concern and optimism. Some commenters read the phrasing as a possible farewell, with one writing, “This better not be a break up announcement.” Another said the wording caused “heart palpitations.” Others pointed to the edit structure, noting that each segment appears to align with first singles from past albums, and suggested the post could be teasing new music.
As of publication, Greta Van Fleet have not issued a follow-up statement.
In 2023, frontman Josh Kiszka spoke publicly about coming out and said the response brought relief. He had previously shared on Instagram that he had been “in a loving, same-sex relationship” with his partner for eight years. Later, he said: “Everything had been met with love and acceptance and humility and respect… a huge weight was lifted.”
Outside the band’s core activity, guitarist Jake Kiszka recently appeared in Bruce Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, playing in a local club band scene involving Springsteen. Starcatcher producer Dave Cobb also worked on the film and brought in Bobby Emmett of Jack White’s band for the same sequence.
