Lizzo says she will continue fighting the lawsuit filed by three former backup dancers, rejecting settlement and saying she is prepared to testify as key parts of the case move forward.

Lizzo says she plans to keep contesting the lawsuit filed by three former backup dancers, stating that “the truth is less salacious than the headlines.”
The lawsuit was filed in August 2023 by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez. The plaintiffs allege sexual harassment and a hostile work environment during periods they worked with the singer between 2021 and 2023. Lizzo has denied the claims.
In a new interview with CBS Mornings, Lizzo said she does not intend to settle out of court.
“I think it is an easy out, but I’m fighting the case because I know that it’s not true,” she said.
She added that she is willing to testify if needed.
“I would look fabulous while doing it,” she said. “I’m not afraid of the truth. The truth is less salacious than the headlines.”
One part of the lawsuit, involving a claim that Lizzo fat-shamed Davis and later fired her, was dismissed by a judge in December. Lizzo later said that allegation had “no merit in court.” Other claims remain active, including an allegation tied to a night out in Amsterdam in early 2023. Lizzo disputes all allegations.
In October 2023, Lizzo called the case a “fabricated sob story” and filed a motion seeking dismissal, alleging the dancers had shown a “pattern of gross misconduct.”
Away from the legal case, Lizzo is preparing to release her third studio album, Bitch, on June 5. She has released the title track, which interpolates Meredith Brooks’ 1997 hit of the same name.
The project follows 2022’s Special.
Earlier this month, Lizzo also said she had planned to remain a virgin until winning a Grammy, and said she later lost her virginity in 2020, the year she won three Grammys. She also said she had her first kiss at age 21.
