Case Oats Share New Single "Bottom Of An Afternoon" Ahead of Spring Tour

Case Oats, the duo of singer-songwriter Casey Gomez Walker and drummer Spencer Tweedy, have released a new song, “Bottom Of An Afternoon,” ahead of a tour that begins this week. The pair, who are also engaged, issued their debut album Last Missouri Exit via Merge last year.

The new track shifts from the roots-focused sound of that LP. “Bottom Of An Afternoon” places Gomez Walker’s voice in a hazier, lightly electronic folk-rock setting and includes a trumpet solo from Gomez Walker.

In a statement, Gomez Walker said: “This song is a mantra for grief. As a kid I read Aesop’s Fables and was comforted by the idea that there’s always a moral to draw from an experience. As an adult, I find myself calling out asking ‘why?’, begging for visits from ghosts, holding on to any lesson I can find in the pages of books.”
