Zoh Amba has released “Eyes Full”, the title track from their upcoming album Eyes Full, due June 5 on Matador.
Born in Tennessee and known for saxophone work in New York’s avant-jazz circles, Amba takes a different approach on the new record. The project moves into twang-focused, countrified indie rock and was recorded in Asheville with Kevin Hyland on electric guitar and Jim White on drums.
The new single follows “Another Time”, which recently drew early attention ahead of the album. On “Eyes Full”, Amba’s voice sits high in the mix while interlocking guitar lines drive the arrangement, giving the track a wiry, late-night tension.
A video directed by Grace Bader Conrad accompanies the song.
Eyes Full arrives 6/5 via Matador.
