Megan Thee Stallion Says She’s Separating Megan Pete From Her Public Persona

Megan Thee Stallion says she’s learning to separate her private self, Megan Pete, from her public star persona as she expands her business portfolio and navigates life in the spotlight.

Megan Thee Stallion is opening up about the personal boundaries behind her fast-expanding career, telling Entrepreneur she has had to separate “Megan Pete” from “Megan Thee Stallion” as fame, business deals, and public attention continue to grow.

Featured on the magazine’s cover published Tuesday (May 5), Megan discussed what it takes to manage her celebrity-facing role while protecting her private life. “I feel like I had to learn how to separate Megan Pete and Megan Thee Stallion,” she said.

She explained that fan interactions are still central to how she presents herself in public. “When I’m interacting with my people and my Hotties, I want them to feel like — when they had that experience with Megan — it don’t matter if they were having a bad day, because once they met me, their day was better,” she said. “They might have felt some type of relief.”

The Houston rapper has continued building ventures outside music, including her tequila brand Chicas Divertidas, a swimwear line, and a Popeyes franchise in Miami Beach.

At the same time, she said constant performance mode changed how even longtime acquaintances treated her. “I was Megan Thee Stallion all the time. I was on all the time. And people treated me that way,” she said. “Even people that had known me for so long in my life, they no longer treated me like the Megan that they grew up with.”

Megan added that she found it difficult when everyday interactions became filtered through celebrity culture, saying she questioned why people around her were recording routine moments or focusing only on other famous names.

Now 31, she said she is still learning who belongs in her life long-term. “I had to learn who’s going to be longterm, and who’s just the reason in the season,” she said. “Whatever happened to Megan Thee Stallion today, I should not take that home to my real friends and my real relationships and my family. This is two different lives I’m living.”

The interview arrives shortly after news of her split from NBA player Klay Thompson and days after she wrapped her Broadway debut on May 1, appearing as Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
