Paul McCartney says "Home To Us," his first solo duet with Ringo Starr and featuring Chrissie Hynde and Sharleen Spiteri, will appear on The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, due May 29. McCartney previewed the album at Abbey Road on May 5.

Paul McCartney confirmed that “Home To Us,” a duet with Ringo Starr featuring Chrissie Hynde and Sharleen Spiteri, will appear on his new album “The Boys Of Dungeon Lane,” due May 29.
The track is McCartney’s first-ever solo duet with his former Beatles bandmate. It is also the only song on the record to feature a guest drummer. Andrew Watt produced the album. McCartney plays the majority of the instruments.
McCartney previewed the record at a fan playback at Abbey Road on Tuesday, May 5. About 50 attendees heard the album in full. The lead single “Days We Left Behind” has already been released. The single with Starr was scheduled for release on Friday, May 8.
“Ringo went round to the studio and drummed a bit. I said to Andrew, we should make a track and send it to him. So this song is done totally with Ringo in mind,” McCartney said.
McCartney described the song as rooted in his Liverpool upbringing. He said he wrote it around memories of the neighbourhoods he and Ringo came from, and then sent the track to Starr. McCartney and Starr alternate lines on the finished duet.
Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders and Sharleen Spiteri provide guest vocals. McCartney said he wanted “girls” on backing vocals and contacted Hynde and Spiteri, who are friends. The result is a multi-vocal track built from McCartney’s demo and Starr’s contributions on drums and some vocal lines.
The album is being presented as a more introspective work. Press materials and McCartney’s statements say it examines his early life in Liverpool, the resilience of his parents, and early friendships with George Harrison and John Lennon before Beatlemania.
Confirmation of the Starr feature follows reports last month that Ringo would appear on the record. Starr released his own 22nd solo album, “Long Long Road,” on April 24 via UMe. That record was produced by T-Bone Burnett and features guests including St. Vincent, Sheryl Crow and Billy Strings.
“The sound of country now is getting a bit more country,” Starr told NME when discussing his new record.
“The Boys Of Dungeon Lane” arrives May 29. McCartney’s previous solo album was 2020’s “McCartney III.”
