Netflix released the trailer for Kylie, a three-part documentary about Kylie Minogue. The series will stream on May 20.

The first trailer runs about two and a half minutes. It condenses nearly 40 years of Minogue’s public life into a short sequence of archival footage, interviews and performance clips.

Featured contributors include Nick Cave and Dannii Minogue. In the trailer Cave says, “Kylie is this force. It’s all outward, giving.” Dannii Minogue says, “We didn’t know if she was ever going to be well again.” Kylie adds, “Music kept us going.”

The footage moves from early television appearances and red carpets to personal moments. The trailer shows professional photos of Minogue with Michael Hutchence and addresses her breast cancer diagnosis and the years of public scrutiny that followed.

The clip also contains brief profanity.

The series is directed by Michael Harte, an Emmy- and BAFTA-award winner with credits that include Three Identical Strangers and BECKHAM. It is produced by John Battsek’s Ventureland, which produced WHAM! and The Deepest Breath.

“…faced public scrutiny, personal loss, and illness with grit and grace, earning respect far beyond her own fandom,” reads Netflix’s description of the series.

Minogue’s commercial and award record is listed in the trailer and press materials. She has sold more than 80 million records worldwide. She has won 18 ARIA Awards and been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Her honors also include the Ted Albert Award, the U.K.’s MITS Award and two Grammys.

Her film credits include The Delinquents, Street Fighter, Moulin Rouge!, Kath & Kim, Holy Motors and The Residence.

Recent career developments noted alongside the documentary: Las Vegas residencies; a UTA deal for live representation in the U.S. and Canada; the Global Icon Award at the 2024 BRIT Awards, where she became the second woman to win the prize after Taylor Swift in 2021; and Billboard’s Women in Music Icon Award.

Chart history cited in Netflix materials: 11 No. 1 albums in the U.K., nine in Australia, 12 entries on the U.S. Billboard 200 and seven Hot 100 singles. Her 1988 cover of “The Loco-Motion” peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100. “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” reached No. 7 in 2002.

Minogue has been confirmed as the headliner for the 2026 AFL Grand Final at Melbourne’s MCG on Sept. 26. She is the first Australian artist scheduled to headline the event since 2021.
