The Last Dinner Party have released “Big Dog” today via Island. The track has been a fixture in the bands live set since 2023 and is arriving on streaming services now as an official single.
The group put out their sophomore album From The Pyre last year. Earlier this year they contributed “Lets Do It Again!” to the benefit compilation HELP(2). Later this year they are scheduled to open shows for Olivia Rodrigo, who also appears on HELP(2).
The author will see the band perform next week at Salt Lake Citys Kilby Block Party and welcomes brief greetings from readers in the crowd.
Video and studio intro
The “Big Dog” video was directed by Elliott Arndt and leans heavily on live performance footage. Alongside the single, the band released a studio recording of “Come All You Beasts,” the poem they traditionally recite before the song in concert. The band describes that track as an intro rather than a spokenword piece; it includes riffs and functions as a leadin to the main song.
