Kneecap’s Irish‑language album Fenian debuts at No. 2 in UK; band pledges sales profits to charity
Kneecap's second album Fenian debuted at No. 2 in the UK. The band will donate all sales earnings to three charities amid recent legal and publicity issues.
Kneecap‘s second studio album Fenian opened at Number Two on the UK Albums Chart in its first week, marking the highest chart position for an Irish language album in UK history. The record was released on May 1 and follows their 2024 debut Fine Art, which reached Number 42.
The album features collaborations with Kae Tempest, Radie Peat and Fawzi. In its opening week Fenian outperformed the bands previous chart peak and secured a position only behind a catalog compilation.
It was kept off the top spot by The Essential Michael Jackson, a 2005 compilation that has returned to prominence amid the release of the Michael biopic. The compilation last topped the chart in 2009 after Jacksons death.
Elsewhere in the chart, Melanie C achieved her highest ever solo placing with Sweat at Number Three. Kacey Musgraves Middle Of Nowhere entered at Number Seven.
