Phoebe Bridgers played her first solo show in three years in Roswell, debuting new songs and previewing her third album.

Phoebe Bridgers played her first solo show in three years on Friday, May 8, at the Liberty, a 400-capacity theater in Roswell, New Mexico. The invite-only set was no phones allowed, and it mixed familiar material with a first look at new music from her still-untitled third album.
Bridgers reportedly told the crowd the performance was a “test” for future shows. She was joined by longtime collaborator Christian Lee Hutson, who played guitar, harmonica, harmonies, and percussion. The set included “Motion Sickness,” “Kyoto,” and “Garden Song,” along with several unreleased songs and a video short previewing the new record.
One of the new tracks reportedly dealt with the 2023 death of Bridgers’ father. On May 9, flyers for another Bridgers show reportedly popped up in Lubbock, Texas. That same day, a series of photos surfaced showing her in the studio with Matty Healy, Alex G, Jack Antonoff, and her partner, Bo Burnham, apparently working on the album. Pitchfork has reached out to Bridgers’ team for comment.
Each attendee received a small piece of a painting inside the lockable pouches where phones were stored. Some fans have speculated that, put together, the fragments could form the next album cover. New merch sold at the show also appeared to include rumored lyrics from a new song: “Now I can’t see any stars in the sky. When a dreams comes true, a fantasy dies…but we’re gonna be alright, me and you.”
Bridgers last released a full-length album with Punisher in 2020. Her most recent new song, “Sidelines,” arrived in 2022 on the Conversations With Friends soundtrack. Since then, she has worked with Rob Moose, the National, Arlo Parks, SZA, Andrew Bird, and others. She has also stayed active with boygenius, her trio with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. In 2024, the group won three Grammys for its debut album, The Record. Bridgers’ solo debut, Stranger in the Alps, was released in 2017.
