Babehoven Share "Blue Around You" Ahead of Tour With Ray Bull

Babehoven have a new single out just as they prepare to hit the road with Ray Bull tomorrow. The Hudson, New York duo, led by Maya Bon with producer and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Albert, released “Blue Around You,” a soft new track built around fiddle-heavy country instrumentation.

Bon has spent much of the year in collaboration mode, though Babehoven have been active beyond that too. Their most recent album, Water’s Here In You, arrived in 2024. Last year, the group appeared on the TRAИƧA benefit compilation alongside Cassandra Jenkins and Bloomsday. This year, Bon worked with Squirrel Flower on a cover of Mojave 3’s “My Life In Art” and also joined Squirrel Flower and Billie Marten on “Wheels.”

“Blue Around You” turns toward a moment of reflection and connection. In a press release, the band described it this way:

Standing on a bridge seeing apartments illuminated around you, being understood by a friend who knows your story, witnessing someone pull their life together like tenderly tying a shoelace — these are all moments where we find each other in the soup of it all and choose to really see one another and stay. I see the blue around you as if we carry the hard times we go through around and within us like a glow

Babehoven’s tour begins May 12 in Cambridge, MA at The Sinclair and runs through June 13 at Bowery Ballroom in New York. Ray Bull joins on all dates marked with an asterisk.
