Body Type Announce New Album Tally With Lead Single “Mulberry”

Body Type have announced a new album, Tally, and opened the rollout with “Mulberry,” a track that finds Sophie McComish and Annabel Blackman sounding especially loose on the mic. The Sydney post-punk band lean into a drawn-out, playful delivery here, riding a bright, brittle jangle that gives the song a sharp edge.

The result has an early Courtney Barnett feel, though that’s not just about the accent. It’s also in the way the vocals and guitars seem to snap against each other without losing momentum. Body Type will also tour Europe and the UK with Barnett later this year, which makes the comparison even harder to ignore.

The band have been active for a while. Their second album, Expired Candy, arrived three years ago. Since then, they’ve signed to King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s (p)Doom label and recorded Tally in Los Angeles with Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa producing.

“Mulberry” is the lead single from the record and the first clear look at what Body Type are bringing to this new phase. Listen below.
