Conan O’Brien Set to Host the Oscars for a Third Straight Year

Conan O’Brien will host the Oscars for a third straight year, with Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan also returning as executive producers.

Conan O’Brien will host the Oscars for a third year in a row, making him the first person to do so since Billy Crystal, who fronted the show four consecutive times from 1990 to 1993.

Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will also return as executive producers for a fourth straight year. The Academy made the announcement alongside the news that the 99th Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 14, 2027, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. The ceremony will air live on ABC and stream on Hulu.

O’Brien has already earned solid notices for his first two turns as host, though awards-show lineups remain subject to change. Kapoor recently made host changes on two other shows he is executive producing, switching Reba McEntire to Shania Twain for the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 17 and Cynthia Erivo to P!nk for the Tony Awards on June 7.

“Getting to reunite with Conan O’Brien for a third year at the Oscars is really special,” Kapoor and Mullan said in a joint statement. “He brings that signature humor everyone loves, along with a real warmth and generosity that carry through the entire show. He’s a true creative partner, someone we trust completely, and someone who makes the whole process genuinely fun, both behind the scenes and on stage. We’re incredibly grateful to keep building this together and can’t wait to share what’s next.”

O’Brien is best known for Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and Conan. He currently hosts the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast and the HBO travel series Conan O’Brien Must Go. His awards history includes six Primetime Emmy wins and 33 nominations, including one for his work on the Oscars.

Kapoor has nine Emmy nominations and won for the 96th Oscars, as well as for executive producing Adele’s Adele: One Night Only, which won outstanding variety special (pre-recorded). His credits also include the Grammy Awards, ACM Awards, Latin Grammys and Emmy Awards.

Mullan is an executive producer, showrunner and partner at Done + Dusted, the global live event production company. She has two Emmy nominations for her Oscars work and won for the 96th Oscars.

Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney will return as producers for a third time. Sweeney will also serve as a writer.
