BTS Greets ARMY From Mexico’s National Palace Balcony: “The Energy Here Is Incredible”

BTS appeared on a National Palace balcony in Mexico City on May 6, 2026, greeting about 50,000 fans ahead of three sold-out ARIRANG tour shows.

On May 6, 2026, BTS appeared on a balcony of Mexico City’s National Palace after meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum, greeting roughly 50,000 people gathered in the Zócalo, according to the capital’s government.

The appearance lasted about five minutes. The band addressed fans in the Constitution Plaza, the official name of the Zócalo, delivering short messages in Spanish and English and photographing the crowd with their phones. Fans had waited for hours in intense heat ahead of the three sold-out concerts the group is due to play in the capital.

RM opened with a brief thank-you: “Muchas gracias for having us. We can’t wait for tomorrow’s concert on stage. Let’s have fun together! Te amo. Te quiero, Muchas gracias.”

V read a prepared message from his phone: “Hello. I don’t speak Spanish very well, but I will try. I’ve missed you. We’ve missed Mexico so much. The energy here is incredible. Thank you so much for loving us so much. See you next time. Goodbye.”

The seven members wore beige and navy-blue suits for the visit. Their time on the balcony fulfilled a long-held expectation for many attendees, who cheered, applauded and in some cases cried during the brief greeting.

Sheinbaum addressed the crowd with a short request: “I already told them that they have to come back next year,” a remark that echoed fans’ hopes for a future free performance at the Zócalo. The president later published a photograph with BTS on social media and wrote, “I warmly welcome one of the most beloved groups among the youth of Mexico: BTS” and added that “Music and values unite Mexico and South Korea.” Presidencia de México released images of the meeting.

Some members of ARMY criticized the presidential invitation on social platforms, urging the president not to politicize the visit.

BTS returns to Mexico for three concerts at the GNP Seguros Stadium on May 7, May 9 and May 10 as part of their ARIRANG tour. Promoter Ocesa reported selling more than 136,000 tickets for those shows. Tickets for the dates sold out in less than an hour when they were released earlier this year.

Sheinbaum has pushed for additional performances since the quick sell-out. On January 26 she sent a letter to South Korean President Lee Jae Myung requesting more concerts in Mexico. Three weeks later the South Korean government said it had forwarded that request to HYBE, the company that manages BTS.
