Alex Cameron announces Late To Set, shares “Red Hook Rain,” and confirms North American and European tour dates.

Alex Cameron is back with Late To Set, his first album since Oxy Music arrived four years ago. The Australian singer also shared a new single, “Red Hook Rain,” while confirming a run of tour dates that includes North American shows and a summer stretch opening for the Strokes in Europe.
Cameron first surfaced again last year with “Short King,” a brisk and deliberately silly single that will not appear on the new record. He followed that with “Statue Down” last month, and that track does make the album. According to a press release, Late To Set was recorded after a period of unspecified personal upheaval.
He worked on the LP with producers Mark Perkins, Zach Dawes, and Maxim Ludwig. Cameron is the only credited producer on “Red Hook Rain,” which arrives as a broad, glossy piece of ’80s-style synth-rock.

The album’s tracklist runs nine songs deep: “No Soldier,” “Statue Down,” “Stand-In Man,” “Testosterone In Blue,” “Jesus Never Had No Porno,” “Ricochet,” “No Guns Come Alone,” “Red Hook Rain,” and “Violent Man.” Late To Set is out 7/24.
Cameron’s live schedule starts with a North American run in September, including stops in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Washington, DC, Durham, Richmond, Kingston, Somerville, Portland, South Burlington, and Montreal. He then heads to Europe in October for dates in London, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Bologna, Barcelona, Paris, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Manchester, and Dublin, all with the Strokes. Another North American leg follows in November, with shows in Ojai, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Seattle, Portland, Bellingham, Vancouver, Boise, and Salt Lake City.
