Bad Bunny arrived at the 2026 Met Gala in full elderly character makeup, joking that the look took “53 years exactly” to complete while discussing his approach to creative reinvention on the carpet.

Bad Bunny arrived at the 2026 Met Gala on Monday, May 4, in New York with one of the night’s most talked-about transformations: a full elderly character complete with white hair, wrinkle makeup, and a cane.
The Puerto Rican star, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, wore an all-black suit finished with an oversized flowing bow while walking the carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He leaned into the role physically, moving with deliberate posture and pace to sell the senior-citizen concept.
Speaking on the red carpet with Vogue co-host La La Anthony, Bad Bunny said the annual event has become a personal creative challenge. “I don’t know,” he said when asked how he keeps topping past appearances. “It’s getting a part of my life, trying to do something different. This day of the Met is a perfect day to explore and be creative and express yourself in a different way.”
Asked how long the look took, he delivered the night’s cleanest punchline: “53 years exactly. It took a little bit but it’s worth it. I hope I look good.”
The appearance continues a period where Bad Bunny has expanded his screen profile alongside music. He previously appeared in Bullet Train and Happy Gilmore 2, and is set to star in an upcoming Puerto Rico-focused film directed by Residente.
The 2026 Met Gala celebrated the “Costume Art” exhibition under the theme “Fashion Is Art.” Other music names on the carpet included Maluma, Madonna, Beyoncé, Charli xcx, Sam Smith, Doja Cat, Sabrina Carpenter, and BLACKPINK members JISOO, JENNIE, LISA, and ROSÉ.
