Beyoncé returned to the Met Gala for the first time since 2016, co-chairing the 2026 event and walking the carpet with Jay-Z and Blue Ivy. In a rare interview, she discussed her Olivier Rousteing look and fan speculation around Act III.

Beyoncé made her first Met Gala appearance in a decade on May 4, 2026, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The singer, attending the event celebrating “Costume Art,” arrived in a jeweled skeleton-inspired gown with a matching headpiece and a feathered shawl.
She also served as a co-chair this year alongside Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams. Beyoncé walked the carpet with Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy Carter, 14, and the three posed together for photos.
During a rare red carpet interview with host La La Anthony, Beyoncé said returning to the gala felt personal because Blue Ivy was with her.
“It feels surreal because my daughter’s here,” Beyoncé said. “She looks so beautiful. It’s incredible to be able to share it with her.”
She said she was excited to experience the night through her daughter’s perspective and confirmed her look was by Olivier Rousteing. Rousteing led Balmain as creative director for 14 years before departing in 2025, and Beyoncé noted their long working relationship.
“I’m wearing Olivier Rousteing, who is someone that has been so loyal to me, and I’ve done so many incredible, iconic looks with him,” she said. “So it’s really about representing him.”
In the same interview, Beyoncé spoke about body diversity, reflecting the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition framing.
“The different juicy, curvy, thin, tall, whatever. Just celebrating whatever God gave you,” she said.
Her appearance also fueled renewed fan speculation about Act III, the expected follow-up in the trilogy that began with Renaissance and Cowboy Carter. That speculation was quickly pushed back by her longtime publicist, who replied to an X post claiming a Met Gala-era launch: “This is unequivocally false!!” As of publication, Beyoncé has not announced a release date or details for Act III.
