Charli xcx has released 'I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night' as the B-side to her sold-out 'Rock Music' 7-inch.
Charli xcx has released a new track, “I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night,” as the B-side to her new “Rock Music” 7-inch single. For now, the song is not on streaming platforms and is otherwise tied to the vinyl release.
An accompanying video is also circulating through Charli’s Instagram side account. The black-and-white clip was shot in Kyoto, Japan, on a single handheld camera and shows Charli moving through a stairwell and a dance studio floor.
The song finds Charli fixated on an unnamed person and, at one point, joking with her own sexuality. “I’m probably not,” she sings, after wondering, “maybe I could be gay,” then adds, “I’ve always wondered if you were actually gay/ Or if that’s somеthing you just say for your career.”
It opens with a reference to French New Wave cinema: “Maybe we could become each other/ Like somethin’ out of a Jacques Rivette movie or somethin’.” The track runs just 1:32 and is built around minimal production. The chorus repeats the same line twice: “I keep thinkin’ ’bout you, every single day/ I keep thinkin’ ’bout you, еvery single night.”
Charli announced the track on Instagram on Saturday, May 8, one day after debuting “Rock Music.” She posted it on @b.sides, her account for behind-the-scenes material that does not appear on her main feed.
“i keep on thinking bout you every single day and night’ the b side to rock music. i went to kyoto for six weeks to shoot a film. while we were there, i made this video with aidan. only available on vinyl & here on b.sides. so rip the audio if you want it xx,” Charli wrote on @b.sides.
At press time, the “Rock Music” 7-inch was sold out on Charli’s official webstore. The product page still lists record stores in the U.S., U.K. and France that are set to receive limited quantities.
Since the song is not on streaming services, the only official way to hear “I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night” right now is through the video on Instagram.
