Dave Matthews Band brought out St. Vincent during its Riverbeat Festival headline set in Memphis for “Spoon” and a cover of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House,” continuing both artists’ ties to the Talking Heads catalog.

Dave Matthews Band brought out St. Vincent during its headlining set Sunday at Memphis’ Riverbeat Music Festival, where the two artists performed DMB’s “Spoon” and a cover of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House.” Fan-shot video of the collaboration has started circulating online.
The pairing stood out on paper, with St. Vincent playing the festival’s direct support slot before Dave Matthews Band took the main stage. During the headliner set, she returned to join Matthews and the band for the two-song guest spot.
“Burning Down the House” is familiar territory for Dave Matthews Band, which has played the song live for years, including at Talking Heads’ Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2002.
For St. Vincent, the cover also connects to her long-running history with David Byrne. The two reunited at New Orleans Jazz Fest the previous weekend and performed another Talking Heads track, “Wild Wild Life,” a song they also played together during their 2013 tour.
