GYRO.Group appoints Henry Compton to lead APAC for DistroDirect and promotes several executives as its global team tops 70.

GYRO.Group is adding more leadership as it pushes deeper into international markets, appointing digital distribution veteran Henry Compton as head of APAC for DistroDirect, its white-label distribution platform.
The announcement came Wednesday, May 13, as the Brisbane-based group outlined a broader round of promotions across the business. Compton brings more than 20 years of experience in business development, marketing and client relations. Most recently, he held senior roles at The Orchard and FUGA, where he worked across Australia and New Zealand on business development, go-to-market strategy, and client acquisition and retention.
GYRO.Group says DistroDirect has been widening its reach across South-East Asia and has recently signed several independent music businesses in the Philippines.
“He is exactly the caliber of executive we’ve been building towards bringing into the DistroDirect fold,” said group chief commercial officer Matthew Rogers. “His track record of building and scaling operations in this market is second to none. Having Henry lead that charge in APAC gives us enormous confidence about what’s ahead, both for the partners we serve in those markets and for the Australian artists we want to bring with us.”
Several internal promotions were also announced. Adrian Burke has been given added responsibilities as executive vice president of artist services and A&R. He has led GROUP SPEED, GYRO.Group’s artist services arm, since it launched and has worked with artists including Dom Dolla, Mariah Carey and Swedish House Mafia.
Alison Bremner is now general manager, marketing, with strategic oversight of brand development across the group’s global portfolio. Harry Young has been named head of A&R for AU/NZ after joining in late 2025. Alexandria Thomson has been elevated to artist marketing lead for Australasia. Claire Hirayama-Kaarsberg is moving into a partner relations manager role at DistroDirect. Alyssa d’Artenay is shifting into pitching and artist services management. Kriza Canzon is taking on an expanded role in artist support and compliance.
“The wider team changes,” said Vivienne Mellish, CMO and co-founder of GYRO.Group, “are a reflection of the growth and ambition of the people in our corner and we couldn’t be prouder to have them with us on the journey.”
With Compton’s arrival, GYRO.Group says its global team now numbers more than 70. The company says it has landed five ARIA No. 1 albums this year through its label services and digital distribution operation, including Keli Holiday’s Capital Fiction and Tom Busby’s Rockhampton Hangover.
Andy Irvine, CEO and co-founder, said the hires and expansion are tied to a longer-term goal. “We are doubling down on our investment in Australian artists and in the people and platforms it takes to get them heard globally,” he said. “Our goal is to be the biggest net exporter of Australian music, and every decision we are making right now, who we hire, where we expand, what technology we build, is pointed directly at that.”
The changes follow the opening of GYRO.Group’s Latin American office in Brazil on Friday, March 27, under the leadership of Samuel Fernandes. Last year, the company named veteran independent music executive Matthew Rogers chief commercial officer with responsibility for DistroDirect globally. It also rebranded and brought together its music distribution and artist services brands, including G.Y.R.O., DistroDirect, GROUP SPEED and Soothe Sounds.
