Interpol have signed to Partisan, previewed two new songs and confirmed more music from their eighth album is on the way.

Interpol have signed to Partisan as they continue work on their eighth studio album, the follow-up to 2022’s The Other Side of Make-Believe.
The New York band have already previewed two songs from the record. See Out Loud, which has been part of their recent setlists since March, and Wings Of Fire, first played live at Coachella 2026. The latter also carries echoes of Antics and 2007’s Our Love To Admire.
Frontman Paul Banks confirmed the label move on Instagram, where he shared a photo of the band alongside a poster for their upcoming shows.
“We are truly excited to be partnering with such a stellar label. Partisan’s track record, roster, and overall ethos fills us with total confidence. We feel in ideal company on every level,” Banks wrote.
Partisan’s roster includes Geese, IDLES, Cameron Winter, PJ Harvey, Laura Marling, Blondshell and Lip Critic.
The album title and release date have not yet been announced. Banks has previously said the band were approaching the record with a more direct pace. In 2024, he told NME the album would be “quite high energy”.
“[It’s] pretty great, to be honest with you. I’m pretty pumped about the stuff that we have worked on so far,” he said. “That’s all I can really say: it’s an enthusiastic ‘yes’. It’s pretty cool. With this record, we’re getting back to writing together in a room and my favourite tracks so far are quite high energy.”
Guitarist Daniel Kessler later said the new material also points beyond that. Speaking last summer, he said album eight includes “some upbeat tracks” as well as “different moods” and “some different atmospherics that I don’t think we’ve had before.”
“It’s not all rock; some of it is more upbeat in a different kind of way to what people might think of Interpol. It’s been a really fun process,” Kessler said.
Drummer Urian Hackney, of The Armed, is currently playing live with Interpol while Sam Fogarino has stepped back from touring after spinal surgery in 2023. Fogarino, who has been in the band since 2000, is still involved in the album, co-writing and performing all of the drum tracks.
Touring continues later this month, when Interpol head to Australia and New Zealand to support Deftones. Over the next two months, they will also play the UK and Europe, including a support slot with My Chemical Romance.
The band will reunite with Deftones again in August for London’s All Points East x Outbreak festival, where the bill also includes IDLES, Amyl & The Sniffers, AFI, Esdeekid, JPEGMAFIA, Deafheaven and Mannequin Pussy.
At the end of 2026, Interpol are set to launch a co-headline tour with Bloc Party across the UK and Europe. Those dates include two nights at the new British Airways ARC venue in London. Visit here for tickets to all upcoming dates.
