Kacey Musgraves' Middle of Nowhere debuts at No. 1 on three Billboard album charts and posts her best vinyl sales week.

Kacey Musgraves’ Middle of Nowhere opens with No. 1 placements on three Billboard album charts dated May 16, while also giving the singer-songwriter her biggest vinyl week yet.
The sixth studio album debuts at No. 1 on Top Album Sales, Vinyl Albums and Indie Store Album Sales. It also lands at No. 2 on both Top Country Albums and Americana/Folk Albums, No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and No. 10 on Top Streaming Albums.
The album arrives with 100,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending May 7, according to Billboard. That marks Musgraves’ best week ever by units. Vinyl accounts for a little more than 37,000 of that total, which is also her strongest vinyl sales week to date.
Middle of Nowhere was announced in early March and released May 1. The album includes collaborations with Gregory Alan Isakov, Miranda Lambert, Willie Nelson and Billy Strings. It was introduced by the single “Dry Spell,” which peaked at No. 15 on Hot Country Songs in March.
Musgraves’ Middle of Nowhere arena tour is set to begin Aug. 21 in Chicago and run through the end of October.
On Top Album Sales, this is Musgraves’ third No. 1, all of them consecutive. She previously led the chart with Deeper Well in 2024 and Star-Crossed in 2021.
The latest Top Album Sales chart is crowded at the top. Five other albums debut in the top 10: ILLIT’s MAMIHLAPINATAPAI at No. 3, The Black Keys’ PEACHES! at No. 6, Isaiah Rashad’s It’s Been Awful at No. 7, Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live) at No. 9 and Tori Amos’ In Times of Dragons at No. 10. Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide slips to No. 2 after debuting at No. 1 last week, while BTS’ former leader ARIRANG holds at No. 4. Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Number Ones also climb, moving 7-5 and 12-8, respectively.
