Kelela has announced a new album, new avatar, due July 10 via Warp. The project follows 2023’s Raven and includes guest appearances from PinkPantheress, Fousheé, and A. K. Paul.
The singer introduced the album last month with “idea 1,” now confirmed as the opening track and lead single. Today she returned with “linknb,” the album’s eighth track.
Like “idea 1,” “linknb” was produced by Oscar Scheller, whose recent run includes work with PinkPantheress. The song pairs Kelela’s vocal phrasing with a tightly wound guitar line, and arrives with a video directed by Mischa Notcutt. On the track, she sings,
“It’s not hard to be brave / Easier to give too much away. All I know is that I paved the way, underpaid.”
