Kelsey Lu has released “Better Than That” featuring Sampha, the latest single from her upcoming album So Help Me God, due June 12 on Dirty Hit.
Kelsey Lu has released Better Than That, a new single featuring Sampha, as she prepares to drop her second album, So Help Me God, on June 12 via Dirty Hit.
The song follows earlier cuts Running To Pain and Portrait Of A Lady On Fire. It opens with spare piano and gradually layers in strings and shifting arrangements as Lu and Sampha trade vocals.
In a press statement, Lu said she recorded the track in London in 2021 while working in a shared studio space connected to Damon Albarn.
“It all came pouring out one night unwritten and has always held a special place for me. I often end up playing detective on what I was speaking on, and around that time I was really unravelling my sense of purpose both in music and in life in general. This song represents a lot of swirling and at times frustrating internal thoughts, reflections, and contradictions on wanting to feel seen and unseen.”
The visual for Better Than That is out now. So Help Me God arrives 6/12.
