Lady Gaga’s ‘MAYHEM Requiem’ Concert Film Sets Apple Music Premiere and 15-Theater U.S. Run

Lady Gaga is closing the book on her Mayhem era with a new concert film built around reworked versions of songs from her Grammy-winning album.

Apple Music Live: Lady Gaga MAYHEM Requiem will debut on Apple Music on Thursday, May 14, at 8 p.m. PT. The premiere will be available to watch on Apple Music without a subscription. A full performance version, along with a spatial audio live album, will then be available on demand for Apple Music subscribers.

The film will also screen that same day at 15 AMC theaters across the United States, timed to run alongside the streaming premiere.

The project was filmed on Jan. 14 at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre, a 1,850-capacity venue. The stage setup mirrored the opera house Gaga built for her Mayhem Ball tour, but here it was shown in ruins. Gaga performs in a Phantom of the Opera-style role and runs through reinterpreted versions of “Abracadabra,” “Disease,” “Die With a Smile” and the rest of the album. Morningview produced the film.

Gaga wrapped the final dates of the global Mayhem Ball in April in New York, finishing a yearlong run that stretched across five continents. In April, Billboard reported that the tour grossed $419.5 million and sold just under two million tickets, based on figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. That made it the highest-grossing tour of Gaga’s career and one of the 10 highest-grossing pop tours of all time.
