Lightning Bug Announces New EP In Between Things, Shares “Song for a…”

Lightning Bug will release the new EP In Between Things on July 14 and has shared the track “Song for a...”

Lightning Bug’s next release arrives this summer, and it marks a return to Audrey Kang’s solo project origins. The new EP, In Between Things, is due out July 14 on Real Life Music. Its opening track is “Feast,” the demo Kang previously shared last year to help raise money for California wildfire recovery after moving from New York to Los Angeles.

The last Lightning Bug album was 2024’s No Paradise, recorded as a full-band release. Since then, Kang has been traveling widely, and the new EP draws on those recent movements. Today, she has also released “Song for a…,” a soft, drifting song that leans on her voice and a fluttery acoustic guitar before gradually widening out.

Kang co-produced “Song for a…” with Sam Robertson and Ryan Richter. In a press release, she described the song as capturing “the jolt, sudden awakening of falling in love — the zig-zagging between closeness and distance, among all the new unfoldings as you work out the friction of how to let someone in while keeping yourself safe. As if that’s even possible.”

The EP tracklist runs: 01 “Feast,” 02 “Sun Soaked Stone,” 03 “Some Things Linger, Some Things Fade,” 04 “Song for a…,” and 05 “In Between Things.” Pre-orders are available here.
