Pixies announce remastered ‘Complete B-Sides: 1988-97’ for vinyl release

Pixies will reissue Complete B-Sides: 1988-97 on vinyl for the first time, remastered ahead of its June 26 release.

Pixies have confirmed that Complete B-Sides: 1988-97 will be released on vinyl for the first time, with all tracks remastered for the new edition.

The announcement lands as the Boston band mark their 40th anniversary. They have already lined up a UK and European tour for 2026, along with a run of festival dates this summer.

The compilation first arrived on CD in 2001, 25 years before this reissue, and gathered 19 B-sides from the band’s 4AD period between 1988 and 1991. It includes Wave Of Mutilation (UK Surf), Into The White, Bailey’s Walk and The Thing. When it was first released, the band were nearly a decade into their hiatus.

Due on June 26, the album is being issued as a remastered 40th anniversary edition. Alongside a double CD release, it will also be pressed to vinyl for the first time.

The vinyl edition spans three sides, with a fourth side added for bonus live tracks. Those extras collect six songs from later Pixies single releases, including the 1997 Debaser re-release. Visit here to pre-order.

The new set arrives after the recent reissue of Pixies’ Live At The BBC compilation. For that release, designer Chris Bigg created new cover art using previously shelved photos of Black Francis and the band from Simon Larbalestier’s archive.

Next month’s UK dates include a large outdoor show at On The Mount at Wasing. Festival appearances include a headline slot at Bearded Theory, a set at NOS Alive in Portugal, and a performance at the 10th anniversary edition of Mad Cool in Madrid. Find tickets here.

Pixies’ ninth and most recent studio album, The Night The Zombies Came, came out in 2024. Around that time, the band told NME they were open to playing more of their classic albums in full on tour, after doing so with Trompe le Monde and Bossanova.

“As a fan, I love those things,” said Joey Santiago. “We went to ‘Aja’, the Steely Dan show. It’s incredible knowing that it’s going to be all of ‘Aja’ and right behind me were all the drummers – Danny [Carey] from Tool, Josh Freese, Pat Wilson were all behind me watching it.

“I’m just saying Steely Dan’s cool…The only thing about doing it in order is that Charles and I have to switch guitars. So there’s a lot of that going on, so it disrupts the show a little bit. But we like doing it.”
