Spacemoth released the single “Internet Fantasy” today. The track is the second advance song from the album Inward Eye, due 6/26 via Greenway.
Spacemoth is the project of Oakland musician Maryam Qudus. Her previous single, “Do We Exist?”, appeared on the site’s weekly best new songs list earlier this year. “Internet Fantasy” follows it as a tonal pivot.
The new track uses droning krautrock textures and a steady motorik pulse. Synth patterns nod to Kraftwerk and Cluster. Qudus sings in a calm register about the difficulty of staying present while online activity pulls attention away.
Jordan Macapagal directed the video. The clip places distorted guitars front and center, often overlapping with saturated synth washes. Scenes cut between closeups of Qudus and wider band shots.
