The Rolling Stones confirm new album ‘Foreign Tongues’ with Paul McCartney, Robert Smith and more

The Rolling Stones have announced ‘Foreign Tongues,’ a new 14-track album due July 10, featuring guests including Paul McCartney, Robert Smith, Steve Winwood, and Chad Smith.

The Rolling Stones have officially announced their new studio album, Foreign Tongues, set for release on July 10 via Polydor/Universal Music.

The band had hinted at the project in recent weeks through global billboard placements featuring the Stones logo and the phrase “Foreign Tongues” in multiple languages. Speculation increased after Mick Jagger and the band shared the campaign imagery on Instagram.

Before today’s announcement, the group previewed new material under the alias The Cockroaches with the single “Rough and Twisted.”

The new album runs 14 tracks and is led by “In The Stars,” released digitally today (May 5), with a physical edition due May 15. “Rough and Twisted” is also being released digitally alongside it.

The lineup on Foreign Tongues includes Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, plus one of the final recordings by late drummer Charlie Watts, who died in 2021. Guest contributors include Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

The record was made in under a month at Metropolis Studios in West London, with Andrew Watt returning as producer after 2024’s Hackney Diamonds.

“I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis,” Jagger said. “It was a very intense few weeks recording ‘Foreign Tongues’. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could.”

Richards said the new LP carries “continuity from Hackney Diamonds” and retains “that London vibe,” while Wood described the sessions as highly productive and said many performances were captured on first takes.

Jagger, Richards, and Wood are scheduled to attend a media launch for the album later today in Brooklyn, New York.

Touring plans remain limited. In late 2025, reports said the Stones dropped plans for a UK and European stadium run in 2026 after Richards was unable to commit. The band’s most recent major outing was the 2024 North American Hackney Diamonds tour, one of the year’s top-grossing global runs. Their last UK performances were in 2022, including two BST Hyde Park shows in London and a stadium date in Liverpool.
