Villagerrr share “Virginia” with Hotspit ahead of Carousel release

Villagerrr are down to the final stretch before Carousel arrives. The Columbus band has already rolled out “Locket,” “Swimming,” and the title track, and now they have released another preview: “Virginia,” featuring Richmond’s Hotspit.

Bandleader Mark Allen Scott says the song is “about trying to keep your head down and keep going even when things feel like they’re all falling apart on a grand scale.” It follows the same sweeping alt-country lane as the earlier singles, with lyrics that land plainly: “How to explain what you can’t explain/ Tell me how/ How to revise or reiterate memories.”

The track arrives with a video directed by Trevor Hock. Carousel is out 5/29 via Winspear.
